When Regulations Meet Reality

From 2009 I worked at the industrial fire brigade of the MOL Group in Hungary. In 2018 I became the HSE lead of MOL Plc.'s Exploration and Production organisation, and from 2022 the HSE director of MOL Hungary, responsible for occupational safety, environmental protection, fire safety and industrial safety. Since 2025 I have been the HSE director of Egis Pharmaceuticals Plc., where my organisation covers occupational safety, environmental protection, fire safety and industrial safety, the site fire brigade, and the coordination of the ESG area.

For 17 years I have supported businesses as a committed service provider, while in my role as president I actively work for the development and recognition of the Hungarian occupational safety profession. My main goal is to strengthen safety culture, so that protection becomes not merely a regulation but a natural corporate value. At the conference I take part as a panelist in the roundtable discussion.

Tamás has a firefighting background and several decades of experience in the installation and maintenance of smoke and heat exhaust systems and fire-stopping equipment. He shares the knowledge and experience he gained in Austria, including the difficulties there. He rose through the ranks first as an employee, then as an entrepreneur. His broad perspective and experience are what make his talk genuinely interesting. Is everything really better in the West?

I began working in explosion protection ten years ago. As a chemical engineer, I approach it from the technology side: where and why an explosive atmosphere can form, and how the risk can be managed with proportionate, practical measures that work. I mainly help companies that do not have their own explosion protection specialist, working closely with their fire and occupational safety colleagues. I believe that good explosion protection documentation does not gather dust on a shelf, it works on the plant floor.

As a strategic AI expert, he supported the working group drafting Hungary's AI act at a ministry-affiliated institute; his own company is already run by AI agents. At Kreatív Kontroll, founded in 2011, he has served more than 10,000 clients as a marketing strategist, trainer and book publisher. Today he most often helps with AI transformation.

Dr. Gyapjas János is a fire protection engineer and a certified disaster management engineer who, over several decades in the profession, has gained significant experience in firefighting, fire prevention, fire investigation and engineering practice alike. As an active participant in professional life, he is a conference organiser and a regular speaker, and through his work he consistently serves knowledge sharing, professional cooperation and the advancement of fire protection in Hungary.

The SHE Manager of HEINEKEN Hungária Sörgyárak Zrt., with over a decade of FMCG experience in occupational safety, industrial fire protection, explosion safety and integrated management systems. His goal is to translate complex multinational requirement frameworks into clear, practical implementation, with the active involvement of partner functions. He actively applies the tools of lean methodology both to uncover the root causes of errors and incidents and to support everyday SHE work. In his talk he presents a good practice through which fire protection tasks can be efficiently embedded into the day-to-day operations of a modern organisation.
